Larry W. Phillips was born in Monroe, Wisconsin March 25, 1948, the son of Ralph O. and Winnifred Phillips.  He is married to Pam, and they have one daughter, Mary, who lives in Madison, Wisconsin with Mike Muckler and their son Mandius Muckler.

He has published numerous articles in newspapers and magazines, and was a reporter for the United Country Courier newspaper in Monroe, Wisconsin before publishing his books.

His hobby/avocation is poker, and he travels to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas every other year.
